Chief Waubonsee of the Potawatomi Thunder Clan (He Makes His Enemies Pale Like the Morning Sun)

 

Lived in the Big Woods south of today’s Aurora, Illinois

 

Led attacks on riverboats operated by General William Henry Harrison’s American forces prior to the Battle of Tippecanoe (1811).

 

Intervened to protect American prisoners in the Massacre at Fort Dearborn (1812).

 

Signed the Treaty of Chicago (1833) and agreed to later modifications to its terms.

 

Died on the Kansas Reservation (1846).
